Community Services
The youth community service ministry of DCFC is part of the youth ministry of the church. This ministry gives youth an opportunity to practice their faith by serving those in need in their local community. Most of the young people in our church come from middle-class families. What I usually come into contact with are my own and my good friends’ families, schools, and churches. He has basically no concept of people outside his familiar environment. I don’t know how to explain it to the people around me who are in need. Many people want to follow Jesus’ teaching to “love your neighbor” but don’t know how to do it.
In 2018, several co-workers of DCFC saw this need of teenagers, and worked with the youth pastor of the church to start an attempt at youth community service ministry. This ministry aims to broaden the horizons of young people and practice the teachings of Jesus. It uses parents and young people to work together and participate in the ministries of existing local Christian community welfare organizations to serve local people in need. The ministry stopped for a year and a half during the pandemic. A fresh start in October 2021. Now we have a regular outing once a month. Partnering with Grace Bridge Food Bank and Metro Relief, two Christian welfare organizations, to serve local people in Dallas.
